The late British star who has been battling with cancer, sold over 200 million records and notched up dozens of hits with brothers Maurice and Barry during a career spanning more than half a century.
His family announced his death yesterday prompting an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow members of the music industry, such as Paul Gambaccini (broadcaster) described the late star as “talented beyond his own understanding” and one of the importance figures in the history of British music.
Other stars like Bryan Adams and Mick Hucknall also paid emotional tributes.
In a statement released by the family said “The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
