Angelina Jolie Reveals Plans For More Surgery After Double Mastectomy March 14, 2014

After bravely sharing how she got a preventative double mastectomy, Angelina revealed in a new interview that her mission to ward off cancer is far from over and the next step is to have her ovaries removed.angelina jolie

Angelina Jolie is once again bravely speaking out about her quest to stay healthy, despite the genetic odds being against her. In May 2013, Angie revealed that she had double mastectomy surgery to prevent breast cancer — a disease she had an 87 percent chance of contracting because of her genetic history — and now she’s hinted at her plans to go under the knife again to reduce her 50 percent risk of developing ovarian cancer.

Angelina Jolie: Planning To Have Ovarian Surgery?
“There’s still another surgery to have, which I haven’t yet,” the Maleficent star told Entertainment Weekly in their Mar. 14 issue. “I’ll, you know, I’ll get advice from all these wonderful people who’ve I’ve been talking to, to get through the next stage.”

After having a double mastectomy in 2013, that next stage would likely be to have an oophorectomy, a.k.a. ovary removal surgery. The procedure would combat Angelina’s 50 percent risk (the number varies based on the individual) of developing ovarian cancer, the disease her mother, Marchelina Bertrand, died from at the relatively young age of 56. Angelina’s risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer was and is so high because she inherited the “faulty gene” known as BRCA1 from her mother and ancestors.

Investigators focus on foul play behind missing plane: sources

An investigation into the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jetliner is focusing more on a suspicion of foul play, as evidence suggests it was diverted hundreds of miles off course, sources familiar with the Malaysian probe said.Malaysia Airlines representatives speak at a news conference about information on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, in Beijing

In a far more detailed description of military radar plotting than has been publicly revealed, two sources told Reuters an unidentified aircraft that investigators suspect was missing Flight MH370 appeared to be following a commonly used navigational route when it was last spotted early on Saturday, northwest of Malaysia.

That course – headed into the Andaman Sea and towards the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean – could only have been set deliberately, either by flying the Boeing 777-200ER jet manually or by programming the auto-pilot.

A third investigative source said inquiries were focusing more on the theory that someone who knew how to fly a plane deliberately diverted the flight hundreds of miles off its scheduled course from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

“What we can say is we are looking at sabotage, with hijack still on the cards,” said the source, a senior Malaysian police official.

One of the most baffling mysteries in the history of modern aviation remains unsolved after nearly a week.

The latest radar evidence is consistent with the expansion of the search for the aircraft to the west of Malaysia.

There has been no trace of the plane nor any sign of wreckage as the navies and military aircraft of more than a dozen countries scour the seas across Southeast Asia.

Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said he could not confirm the last heading of the plane or if investigators were focusing on sabotage.

“A normal investigation becomes narrower with time … as new information focuses the search, but this is not a normal investigation,” he told a news conference. “In this case, the information has forced us to look further and further afield.”

Investigators were still looking at “four or five” possibilities, including a diversion that was intentional or under duress, or an explosion, he said. Police would search the pilot’s home if necessary and were still investigating all 239 passengers and crew on the plane, he added.

INDIAN OCEAN “BIGGEST CHALLENGE”

If the jetliner did stray into the Indian Ocean, a vast expanse with depths of more than 7,000 meters (23,000 feet), the task faced by searchers would become dramatically more difficult. Winds and currents could shift any surface debris tens of nautical miles within hours, dramatically widening the search area with each passing day.

“Ships alone are not going to get you that coverage, helicopters are barely going to make a dent in it and only a few countries fly P-3s (long-range search aircraft),” William Marks, spokesman for the U.S. Seventh Fleet, told Reuters.

“So this massive expanse of water space will be the biggest challenge.”

The U.S. Navy was sending an advanced P-8A Poseidon plane to help search the Strait of Malacca, a busy sealane separating the Malay Peninsula from the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It had already deployed a Navy P-3 Orion aircraft to those waters.

U.S. defense officials told Reuters that the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer, USS Kidd, was heading to the Strait of Malacca, answering a request from the Malaysian government. The Kidd had been searching the areas south of the Gulf of Thailand, along with the destroyer USS Pinckney.

Satellites picked up faint electronic pulses from the aircraft after it went missing on Saturday, but the signals gave no immediate information about where the jet was heading and little else about its fate, two sources close to the investigation said on Thursday.

U.S. experts are still examining the data to see if any information about its last location could be extracted, a source close to the investigation told Reuters. Malaysia’s civil aviation chief confirmed on Friday the government was working with U.S. investigators to establish if there was any satellite information that could help locate the airliner.

LAST RADAR SIGHTING

The last sighting of the aircraft on civilian radar screens came shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, less than an hour after take-off. It was flying as scheduled across the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand on the eastern side of peninsular Malaysia, heading towards Beijing.

However, Malaysia’s air force chief said on Wednesday that an aircraft that could have been the missing plane was plotted on military radar at 2:15 a.m., 200 miles northwest of Penang Island off Malaysia’s west coast.

This position marks the limit of Malaysia’s military radar in that part of the country, a fourth source familiar with the investigation told Reuters.

Malaysia says it has asked neighboring countries for their radar data, but has not confirmed receiving the information. Indonesian and Thai authorities said on Friday they had not received an official request for such data from Malaysia.

The fact that the plane – if it was MH370 – had lost contact with air traffic control and was invisible to civilian radar suggested someone on board had turned off its communication systems, the first two sources said.

They also gave new details on the direction in which the unidentified aircraft was heading – following aviation corridors identified on maps used by pilots as N571 and P628 – routes taken by commercial planes flying from Southeast Asia to the Middle East or Europe.

Hishammuddin said it remained unclear if that aircraft was MH370. “We need to get verification and we are working very closely with the experts,” he said.

An already difficult search task has been complicated in some areas by a choking haze caused by burning forest and farmland that has enveloped much of Malaysia and spilled into the Strait of Malacca. The haze, exacerbated by a prolonged dry spell, has reached hazardous levels in several spots.

Army Says Maiduguri Attack Was Terrorists Attempt To Free Colleagues

The Nigerian Army has said that the attacks on a Military barracks in Maiduguri on Friday morning was a move by pockets of terrorists to boost their depleted stock of fighters by freeing their colleagues who are being held in detention.Nigerian-Army

This is according to a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade.
The statement read: “The attack has been successfully repelled with heavy human casualty on the terrorists. Some of the victims of the terrorists’ fire in their efforts to break into the detention facility included those they came to rescue.

“Many of the terrorists and their weapons have been captured. Four soldiers were wounded and are being treated. Hot pursuits by land and air operations are ongoing along with cordon and search of surrounding localities.
“No institution has been reported attacked, although the effect of firing from the encounter could be noticed in surrounding facilities in Maiduguri.”

The military statement, while promising to give more details later, added that it believed that the terrorists’ attempt was in response to the intensity of attacks on their strongholds in camps at Talala, Monguzum, Sambisa forests, Gwoza, Mandara mountains as well as the general area of Lake Chad, where the “camps have been destroyed and many insurgents killed.”

Obesere Insists He DID Not Rape Anyone March 7, 2014

Fuji musician Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere has denied the rape allegation on him insisting it he didn’t rape the 29 year old business woman Nike Olaiya.obesere-web

Below is his narration
“She visited me at home at night and it was too late for her to return to her place. I won’t lie about the fact that we had intimate encounter. But I did not rape her. And it was about four or five days after she visited me that she went to the police to allege that I raped her.

I went to the police station but when when I realized that the officers there were favoring her as a complainant, I requested them to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba. There, they asked her for evidence that she was raped. There was no injury on her. Her clothes were intact.

When she couldn’t produce evidence, the police advised her not to attempt to blackmail me. They advised her to gently approach me and ask for help if she wanted anything. When she first called me to say she was feeling sick, I called the woman who introduced her to me to take her to hospital. But Alhaja said nothing was wrong with her, that she was only trying to extort me. Alhaja said she planned to blackmail me into parting with between five and ten million naira.
I can tell you my enemies are behind the allegation. They are trying to bring me down. But they won’t succeed because I’m a child of God, a messenger of God. Once God remains behind me, nobody can bring me down.

I’m a responsible man, a reliable man. But I’m human and therefore fallible. But I’m not losing sleep about this allegation. I’m undeterred and I’m going about my business because I have no doubt that the truth will prevail.”

Background

Fuji musician Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere was accused of raping a 29 year old business woman Nike Olaiya at his family house in Okota Isolo.
He was arrested last week Wednesday at the Isolo Police Division, where Olaiya reported the matter.

He was later released on administrative bail, only to be re-arrested on Monday, when medical examination conducted on Olaiya revealed she was actually raped.

Nike Olaiya, in a statement said she got to know Obesere through one of her friends, Mrs Bola Okoro.

“She told me that Obesere would assist me in my business. I deal in office equipment and when I contacted Obesere, he asked me to meet him in his family house at Okota. When I met him, I introduced my business to him and he promised to connect me to some of his friends in Dubai who would sell goods to me on credit. After the discussion, he started demanding for sex and I refused and when I wanted to leave, he insisted I should sleep over in his house because it was late and he claimed that it was dangerous to go out late in the night in his area.”

“I thought he was a responsible man and I decided to sleep over, but at the dead of the night, he came into the room where I slept and pounced on me. He raped me and afterwards inserted a ring he wore into my private part and I started bleeding. He hurriedly left me in the room saying he had an appointment to fulfil. I could not bear the trauma and the bleeding and I reported the matter to the police.”

The Divisional Police Officer, Isolo, Adamu Ibrahim, has since ordered the transfer of the matter to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

Later
He used his ‘contacts’ in the police to have the case transferred to SCID, so as to avoid been dragged to court if it’s left at the Isolo Police Division.
Reports say he preferred the SCID to the Isolo Police division because the DPO at the Isolo Police division was not co-operating regarding striking out the case.

Nike Olaiya, has relocated to her home town, Sagamu in Ogun State, where she is currently receiving treatment for the rape incident. She claims she has been receiving death threats from Obesere and his cohorts.

in her interview with Vanguard, she said “I bled for more than two weeks after Alhaji Obesere raped me and inserted his ring into my private part. The incident occurred on February 12, 2013 and I have spent a lot of money treating myself.

“The DPO, Isolo Police division, took pity on me and refused to give in to Obesere’s pressure to strike out the case and God will bless him for that. But last week, I was informed that the case has been transferred to the SCID and my Investigating Police Office, IPO, at Isolo asked me to come to the station on Tuesday for the transfer.”
